Commonwealth is a restaurant in Modesto, CA that serves great food, wine, and craft beer. They have wines from around the world but focus on beers from the West Coast. It’s a nice place to grab a beer and a delicious bite to eat with your friends.
Their menu features a variety of gastropub grub with an emphasis on sandwiches, homemade potato chips, snack plates, and salads. They take pride in sourcing their ingredients from local places and use seasonal fruits and vegetables to craft their creations. There are a few customer favorites that have a permanent place on the menu, but for the most part, the menu rotates seasonally. Every week they have new specials.
They have 24 craft beers on tap and have a balanced mix of beers from around the country. There are new beers on tap daily, and you can be sure to see a wide variety of West Coast ale when it is available.
Commonwealth firmly believes that your beer should be experienced from the right glass. Every beer they have on tap is poured into a 20oz pub glass. Stronger beers are served in 13 oz Belgian tulip glass. If you can’t choose which beer you want, then they offer a sampler of four beers to choose from.
They feel the same about their wines. They have a mix of wines from around the world that are high-quality but won’t break the bank. When you pay for a good glass of wine, you should drink it out of the nicest glass possible. Their wines are poured into crystal stemware that holds 6 oz.

Bauer’s 66 ½ is a cool little spot in Modesto, CA. It’s owned by Chef Tye Bauer, who serves up a delicious variety of plates that are inspired by his German and Portuguese ancestry. The food spot was seen on the television show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Guy Fieri munched on the Octavian Sandwich, which features three different types of meat and a lamb burger that included gorgonzola, mushrooms, and bacon. Those three meats on the sandwich included pulled pork, Portuguese braised beef, and Portuguese sausage. It’s a great little place to stop in for some unique but delicious food.
3. Crave Cafe
Crave Cafe is a restaurant in Modesto, California that is run by Chef Terence Braxton. Chef Braxton is a graduate of the Chef’s Apprenticeship Program that’s a part of the American Culinary Federation. He has trained and worked with a number of high-qualified and prominent food service personnel and chefs. He’s worked for a variety of industries throughout his career and has traveled to England to study his craft. The Crave Cafe is an accumulation of all that he has learned. It provides a casual atmosphere that is perfect for a dinner out with friends or the family. The menu of Crave Cafe includes the Roasted Dawg Gone Wild, the Potato Crusted Tilapia, regular deli sandwiches, regular soups and salads, and regular flat-breads.
