Sports teams are extremely important to the city of Aurora, Colorado. It is a major part of the city’s culture and society. The Aurora Sports Park is a 220-acre complex that is home to twelve baseball and softball fields in addition to twenty-seven soccer and multi-purpose fields. Over 350,000 people use and visit the fields each year making it one of the most visited sites in the city. The park doesn’t just have athletic fields it also includes picnic areas, playgrounds, and concessions stands, making it a full-fledged athletic experience.

The city of Aurora, CO offers a wide range of athletic opportunities for children and adults alike. Their adult league offerings include kickball, softball, tennis, and volleyball. However, Aurora doesn’t just offer leagues for adults they offer lessons and camps as well because just because a person is over the age of 18, it doesn’t mean they don’t want to learn anything else about sports.

To become an IYSO your organization must register with the city. Those without a permit are allowed to use informal fields at public parks whenever they are not in use.
However, precedence is always given to those organizations that do hold a permit. This is just in an effort to make sure the fields are used in a constructive and productive manner.

Aurora hasn’t forgotten about other sports-related recreational activities such as swimming and fitness classes. Aurora features several outdoor swimming pools and aquatics centers, complete with waterslides in addition to three indoor pools. The city offers swim lessons for children of all ages year-round at the indoor pools and seasonally at the outdoor pools.
The city also offers a plethora of drop-in and pre-registered fitness classes all over the city. Allowing people to stay active in whatever way is appealing to them. They have offerings spanning from tai chi to Zumba.
