The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, FL have hosted a myriad of teams, but remain home to the Jumbo Shrimp. They are a minor league team that plays as part of the Southern League. Since the early 20th century, Jacksonville has had minor league baseball almost every year. Although the team was originally named the Jacksonville Suns, the name was changed in 2016.
In 2010, the Jacksonville Giants were founded, and the minor league team has been in the National Champion of the American Basketball Association in 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2017.
Since the games are so popular, all Giants home games are televised in high definition for the people of Florida. Although not part of the basketball team, another appeal the Giants have to the public is their dance group.
The Giants have the largest dance group in the ABA, made up of over 40 girls and women. They are split into two groups, the younger girls, who make up the “Gems” and the adults, who are the “Jewels.”
Ice hockey is a recent edition to Florida’s many sports. Although the city had a group called the Lizard Kings, the group ended operation in 2000. Since then, the city has seen a lack of ice and pucks, but the city announced the formation of a new group, who will be playing the 2017-18 season. None of the crew is originally from FL, but the city has adopted them, and can't wait to win some games.
They play their home games at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, and are expected to be playing some good games in the near future!

The Jacksonville Armada Football Club is one of the most popular sports teams in the city. The club has been affectionately nicknamed the “Boys in Blue”. They are part of the North American Soccer League and are ranked as one of the top teams.
The Football Club, owned by Robert Palmer, has seen its fair share of drama and new coaches but has managed to continue to be a successful team and entertaining sport to watch. They currently reside in Hodges Stadium, and holds a promising roster for the coming season.

Ponte Vedra Beach is the hot spot for golf, and annually hosts The Player Championship. Of all the spots on the PGA Tour, this one is considered the most prestigious non-major competition.
People come from all over the world to watch the competitors duke it out on the greens in St. Johns County, as well as to see the World Golf Hall of Fame, that has made its home in Jacksonville.
