Spend a Day with the RATS Crew in Albany, NY
No, we don’t literally mean go hang out with little rodents. Quite the opposite, the RATS are a local running club who spend their weekends trekking around town. RATS is an acronym for Run Around Town Sundays, and that is precisely what this fun team of athletes do.
Each Sunday they meet at 8am at a local cafe to begin the run and all are welcome to come join. Organizers plan new routes every week so there’s always a new direction to go and new things to see as you work up a sweat.
Plus, multiple routes are planned with different levels of ability and athleticism in mind. Generally 3 routes are decided ahead of time, ranging from a slower-paced 3 mile jog to a faster 7-mile run.
There’s no charge, so if you’re in the area and want to experience the city from the perspective of a true local, a RATS run is definitely the answer.
